(He saw the pou and relised it was his dad’s carving)

(The purpose of the pouwhenua is to alarm them that people are there cause they put cameras on it)


  • How could you describe where Tre put his bag down?

(Tre put his bag down in a long tent where everyone slept) 


  • What were the people in the village doing BEFORE Tre and Muse’ arrival? And now?

(A girl was making a cup, the kids were reading, Others where carving)


  • Who carved the pou?

(Phyn carved the pou)


  • Why did Tre only murmur “nice one” to Phyn? (Rather than hugging him/celerbating/etc).

(Because the carving belonged to Phyn)


  • Why was Muse leaving in the middle of the night? 

(She was leaving because she had a tracker in her arm and she regrets trying to make the voids capture tre and his family)


  • What was on Muse’s arm? 

(Muse had a tracker on her arm)



  • Who is Phyn in relation to the other characters?

(Tre’s brother phyn)


  • Why did Phyn hit Tre and with what?

(Tre swung his twerlled his staff/taiha because their traitors)

(Tre because he's leaving and he treated his family)


  • Was it the Phyn was silent written in italics like that?

(Because he was angry)


  • What was their plan after leaving the camp?

(To keep moving until the tracker dies out)


  • If you were Tre, what would you do in this situation? 

(I would go with muse to make sure she is safe while she's in the wild)

Camp

 MONDAY -- Onto the bus and out of school go I was with Once we got off the bus we all ran to pick our dorms one by one out and into our dorms we wentz. Then we went to the hall to talk about camp rules. Rule one don't break stuff rule two wake up at 7:00 rule three rule four do not go into something that says stop - do not go wait - wait for the teacher to come and go - you can go on it or in it.And the last rule have fun. Then some of us went to walk to the beach. The walk to the beach was tiring and also fun.Then after the beach walk we went to go and set up our rooms. Then some time drawing the day we got to go in the pool probably for 2 hours or 1 hour and a half but it was so fun. Then we went to the gum to have fun. I was sleeping with Kelly and Sherina for one day. Dinner time we had dinner at 5:30pm we had nachos and more. Before we went to sleep we got to watch a movie.The movie was called Avengers but none of us wanted to see it.So we went to bed at 9:00 and Slipped at 11:00.Day 1 DONE


Tuesday -- Wake up at 7:29 but some girls wake up at 5:00am in the morning. All of us went to go and Brush our teeth then went for breakfast at 8:00a.m. we had corn flakes and more for breakfast. After breakfast we all went to the hall for a group meeting about what we are going to do today. We got put into free groups. I was in group 2 my sister hope was in group 3 and my brother Michael in Group 1. Group 1 was first for kayaking. Then Group 2 my group went kayaking and when we had arrested we got to race each other back to the shore Raymond and lopr came first then I can 2nd place and I was by myself in kayaking then the last group which is group 3 went last for kayaking The men that help as was Steve,Matt and Dave. After that we all went to the hall and practiced for the talent show on thursday.Some of the kids wanted to go into the pools but they had to wait for the teacher to come and open the pool gate once the pool gates were open most of us did a bomb and some of us just parts our feet and then our whole body it was freezing cold.After we went into the pools we got out had a shower then had dinner I don't remember what we had for dinner but After that we got to play in the hall. Then I moved to the dorms. I went with mis Ashley,Giamani and Rosie and natika.Then I had to go to bed at 9:00 but we could go to sleep at 11:00.Day 2 DONE



Wednesday -- Good morning said all of the girls. All the girls and I went to brush our teeth and then had breakfast. We had some us tuesday. After that we went to the hall to have a meeting with everyone. We talked about what we were going to do today and mis Ashley told us what we are going to do. We did paddle boarding and all of the group did paddle boarding. My group went 2th the men that did the paddle boarding was Steve,Matt and Dave. Matt and Steve said that I am so good. Then after that I went back to camp and I went to go and do rock climbing and I did it and did about 1 to 3 of the rock climbing. Then I went to go and play at the gum.Then we had lunch at 1:30 after that we went to the hall and some went to the gum and we just had freetime the hole day then it was dinner time after dinner we went to bed but most of the girls went to bed at 11:00 or 11:30. Day 3 DONE


Why all kids should go to a school camp

 School camp is about building whanaungatanga, learning new skills/experiences, building confidence and getting to know new places.


Why should all kids go to a school camp?


Why you should build whanaungatanga. Whanaungatanga is to make new friends or if you already have friends you can learn new things about your friends. Whanaungatanga is helping with things like games, sports and helping your team. I had a team when I was at camp and I made friendships. Knowing their culture and language and getting away from your parents and taking a break from internet/WiFi.  E.G I was in a school camp and I have made new friends and been on the internet for 5 day. For 5 days I found having no internet was ok.

 During camp you get to learn new skills like going on a lullaby. Going Kayaking, Paddle boarding, or learning, beach walk and rock climbing. For example,  I went to camp and I loved the lullaby, rock climbing and Kayaking. Kayaking is going in a boat and having paddles with you to help you move. Rock climbing is when you have a hook connected to you and then you climb and the lullaby is like a boat but longer and skinnier.



You can see some new places and it could be the view, camp is a new place too. E.G when I went to camp a new place was the camp, the view and the beach.

The camp was partially funded by parents and the rest was subsidised 70$pp.

  • Who/what was the “one exception”.Tre and He built a boat What does that mean?Doesn't follow the rules.

  • How many regions are there? How do you know? What might be in the other regions?

  • Where did the other kids at the new school come from?Different scores. How long had they been there?Probably 3 weeks or 5 weeks.How do you know?They are so focused.

  • What happens on page 8 that gives you a hint to something that might happen later in the story?Tre built a boat and the lady said that's better we don't want another muse.

  • Who said “Do Something, Tell me I’m not alone” on page 9.Tre in his mine.

  • Do you think Muse spelt out RUN just for Tre, or do you think it's always there on her table?I think she said out run. Why? She only spelt it when he came and so they could escape.

  • How far away was the new school from Tre’s old house?It probably took 3 or 5 hours to get to the city How do you know this? Where has old school is it is really sunny and the city is dark.

  • Does hushed mean killed?Yes.How do you know? Page 6 when he was friends with the two girls it said “I bet his parents were hushed which means kill I”. what else could it mean?Killed or hurt.

  • What is “the pen” (page 11) The place they are staying in. 

  • What was dad trying to tell Tre? Why couldn’t he just tell him where his/mum were?

  • On page 14, what happens to Tre when “his voice catches”?His voice was dried.

  • Why is Muse the one who rows the boat? So tre can lead the way.

  • What language feature is “The harakeke closes in, swallowing them up”.
